Tetuán, located in northern Madrid, began as an agricultural area before transforming into a residential neighborhood in the early 20th century. Its name honors the Moroccan city of Tetuán, due to a Moroccan immigrant community. Today, the neighborhood is known for its blend of historic and modern buildings, as well as its cultural diversity, reflecting the evolution of contemporary Madrid.

Public transport in Tetuán

The district features several metro stops on lines such as line 1 (Estrecho, Alvarado, Valdeacederas) and line 9 (Ventilla, Plaza de Castilla), along with numerous bus routes. Cercanías train: to get around the areas farther from the city center, there is a Cercanías train service. These trains connect the outskirts with the city center and operate from 5am to 00:00.

Bus: another transport option is the bus, which operates both within the city of Madrid and in nearby municipalities. In addition, there are night bus lines, commonly known as 'búho', which make it possible to travel by bus at any time.

Metro: Madrid has 12 metro lines and more than 300 stations operating from 6am to 1:30am.
