Are you thinking of moving to Milan? In today’s post we bring you the definitive guide to make your move to the Italian city flawless. Before we start with our tips guide, we suggest you take a look at all the information on our website about living in Milan.

We tell you everything you need to know about moving to Milan. Here we go!

‍

What do you need to know before moving to the Italian city?

‍

Milan is the European capital of design and fashion. In this city you will be able to observe how art coexists throughout the centuries. You will find monuments with centuries of history as well as the most modern and innovative design works. You will have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and, as always, living abroad will be an enriching experience for you.

‍

Lodging in Milan

Of course, the most important thing about moving to any city is finding accommodation. If you are going to live in Milan as a student, we recommend that you stay in a room in a shared apartment. This will allow you to spend less money than renting an entire apartment. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to meet new people, starting with your flat mates. However, if you are a young professional and you can afford to pay a little more money on your rent, we recommend that you stay in a studio or apartment all to yourself.

‍

Learning the language

‍

Whenever we go to live in a new city in a new country, learning the local language is something that makes life much easier. Even so, you should know that most of the young people in Milan speak English, so not knowing Italian will not be a big problem for you.

‍

However, if you want to learn to speak Italian, we recommend that you do it through Facebook language exchange groups. This will allow you to learn the language in a completely practical, free and fun way and meet new people.

‍

Italian public health system

‍

Italy has one of the best public health services in the world, so you will have nothing to worry about. However, in order to have access to this system, you must apply for your tax identification number.

‍

How to open a bank account in Milan?

‍

Another important part of living in a new city is to establish a way to get your money. To do this, you will usually have to open a bank account in a bank in your new city. If you are going to work in Milan, your company will certainly need an Italian account number from you. If, on the other hand, you are going to study and you are not going to earn income by working, it will depend a bit on your needs whether you decide to open an Italian bank account or not. If you are going to be in Milan for a long period of time, we recommend that you open a new bank account to save on fees and commissions. Otherwise, it is probably not worth it.

‍

Don’t hesitate and take the adventure of starting a new life in Milan, we are sure you won’t regret it!
