Rome is one of the most vibrant and lively capitals in the world. It's an art city par excellence. Every corner, every street, every building tells its own story. Let yourself be impressed by its charms, its buildings and its people.

It is called the eternal city because it has never evolved but at the architectural level, it continues to mantain the appearance of other times. When you walk trough Rome, it seems that time stands still and you are in the time of Ancient Rome.

According to legend, Rome was founded by Rómulo y Remo brothers, abandoned by their father Mars, had to be fed by a wolf. Hence the symbol of the country, The Capitoline Wolf. The city is first and foremost a mixture of styles and times. You can see sources designed by Bernini in 17th century, like an Egyptian obelisk just walking a few minutes. The diversity and eclecticism of Rome do a perfect combination for the city to impress you.

Gastronomy

Rome and its gastronomy. The city its full of restaurants where you can eat excellent pizzas, family trattorias where you can enjoy a good meat and delicious pasta houses. Rome is famous because its gastronomic festivals that the´re celebrate during the year. Some of typical Rome dishes are: carpaccio, caprese salad, risotto, gnocchi…

Parties

Rome is a city with many important festivities during the year. For example, “The Ferragosto” (15th August), its celebrated in the Trastévere Neighbordhood with concerts. New Year´s Eve in Rome is also important, as it is usually celebrated with lentils and sausages. For the Romans, lentils are a symbol of fortune and prosperity of the New Year.

Films and series

‍

Rome has a great history to tell in its streets but, tha city has also served to tell stories in the film world. Some of the most famous films recorded in Rome are: Holidays in Rome, La Dolce Vitta, To Rome with love, Gladiator and Angels and Demons. All of them deserve to be seen, since they are films classic. Series like Spartacus have also recorded in Rome.

Neighbourhood in Rome

‍

Rome is divided into neighbourhoods, each with its own charms, but all are part of this wonderful city. Next, we are going to talk about some neighbourhoods that contain very important artistic works where going to Rome:

  • Celio: located behind the Colosseum, a simple neighbourhood with many restaurants and bars to go to. It is one of the 7 hills of Rome.

‍

  • Campo Marzio: there are the two most famous square in Rome: Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Espagna.

‍

  • Monti: it is a neighbourhood near the Colosseum, famous for being a meeting point for students.

‍

‍

  • Parioni: you can find Piazza Navona and Piazza del Campo di Fiori, where a market is prepared every day.

‍

  • Pigna: the Pantheon is one of the most important tourist spots in Rome and is located in this neighborhood.

‍

  • Trevi: where you will find the famous Trevi Fountain and you can trough a coin to make a wish. Of course, try to avoid the central hours of the day as many tourists are concentrated.

‍

  • Trastevere: one of the most charismatic neighbourhoods in Rome and with more atmosphere.

‍

  • Campitelli: the Forum and the Roman Colosseum are located.

‍
